No. Even though the Flibber was originally designed to be used with the flat side down, we discovered during testing that sometimes they work even better when you turn the Flibber over. Sometimes it depends on how much spacing is between your shoelaces or the type of charm you are using. If there is extra room between the laces, the Flibber generally works best flat side up. If the laces are close together, then place the Flibber flat side down. Experiment until you find what works the best for you! Are there certain types of shoelaces that work best with Flibbers clog charm shoelace adapters? Not really. We designed Flibbers to be used on virtually all types of shoe and boot laces. Do I need to remove my Flibbers clog charm shoelace adapters from my shoes if I take the charms out? No. Even if you take your charms off temporarily, the clear material used to make Flibbers blends into the shoe. The Flibbers clog charm shoelace adapters are virtually unnoticeable with or without the charms. How many Flibbers clog charm shoelace adapters can I put on my shoelaces? We would like to say they work with all types, but because of design and manufacturing conditions beyond our control, we recommend that you use your Flibber with genuine Jibbitz. Other charms can be used, however the fit might not be as tight, or the barrel of the charm may be too large, preventing you from inserting your charm. If you are able to use another type of charm but are afraid the stem may be too narrow, there are a couple of things we've tried that can help to help keep your charm secure:
